Can't access Recovery Console

I have linux mepis dual booted with win xp, I want to uninstall mepis
and let xp use my whole hard drive. I tried to use windows recovery
console but I can't get past the enter administrator password thingy,
I am sure I did not use an administrator password when I installed
windows. I've searched until I am blue in the face but can't get past
this hurdle. I've tried just hitting the enter button when it asks for
the password but this does not work. Can anyone help me out here?

Thanks for your reply, I found that after posting my question. I went
through the steps and I noticed two items to choose from something like
hexadecimal or decimal, since the hexadecimal was highlighted I chose
that one because I figured it was the default selection. I have not
noticed any problems so I guess I did the right thing.
