Can't access "printing preferences" of a network printer?

I am running XP at work. My laptop suddenly can't access the "printer
preferences" of this particular network printer. When I try to go to
"printer preferences" to take a look, it comes up with memory
reference address 000xxx and suddenly the desktop icons on my laptop
disappear for a few seconds and then it reappears again. Basically, it
temporarily crashed my laptop. My co-workers can get to the "printing
preferences" of that network printer with no problem on their
computers and it doesn't crash. When my co-worker logs into my laptop
and tries to check the "printer preferences", same message and it
crashes temporarily and icons on desktop disappear before reappearing
again. What is going on here? It worked fine until today. Something is
wrong with my laptop and not the network printer for sure. I just want
to add that i can print to that network printer, but just not access
the "printer preferences". Any clues? Thanks.

I deleted the queue for this printer on my laptop. You can then go to
the printer and faxes, then go to server properties and remove all the
drivers for that particular printer also. I then re-added the printer
queue back to my laptop. I could now access the printer properties to
change whatever i needed to change.
