can't access printers/shares on LAN computer

Looking for a little help with this issue... in the last week or so,
maybe only a few days back, I have completely lost the ability for
other computers on my LAN to see my computer shared resources. All
shared drives and the printer are unavailable to the other LAN
computers.

SP2 is loaded and I have been able to print to this computer and
access shared drives since SP2 was loaded some time back. I am not
running ICF as I have a central router with firewall software running
on it. I have verified that ICF is not enabled.

I can see other computers from My Network Places and access their
shared resources without issue and can use the Internet. I have
tested and the problem is the same from more than one LAN computer
trying to access this computer.

The only thing I can recall changing in the last week is I upgraded
from Norton SystemWorks 2K4 to Norton SystemWorks 2K5 Premier. I do
not see any kind of firewall component such as NIS having been
installed by NSW2K5. Anyone have any troubleshooting tips or
suggestion to look for?

Thanks for your time...

go to start / control panel / windows firewall / Exceptions
tag the Fil and Printer sharing, then click on Edit
and change the scope on all the ports you see here to Subnet

now all the pc´s in your network can see your shares and use your printer

best regards
Peter

with some further experimentation, I have found that remote desktop no
longer functions when trying to connect TO this computer, however, all
outbound connections using remote desktop work just fine.

almost looks as though a firewall is in place or something blocking
all inbound connections to the system since everything outbound works
fine.

I tried enabling the firewall (ICF) and specifically allowing remote
desktop and no joy...

problem turned out to be the Internet Worm Protection component of
Norton Antivirus 2005. This is despite of the fact that NAV2K5 had
been uninstalled from the system as a test and other LAN computers
still could not access the shared resources on this particular
computer.

if IWP component of NAV2K5 is disabled (after app was reinstalled)
then shared resources, Remote Desktop, and a lot of other TCP/IP
traffic that was disabled now works.
