Can't Access My Documents and Settings Folder

I can't access My Documents and Settings Folder in Windows 7 even though
I'm the administrator. I want to rearrange and add some folders to the
Start-All Programs. What am I not doing right?

First, you are asking your question in a VISTA area.

Capice?

You didn't use Vista, did you?
In Vista (and Windows 7), "Documents and Settings" is not a folder.
Vista/Win7 uses a different file structure than XP does/did. Those familiar
folder names you may be used to, like "My Documents", "Documents &
Settings", etc.
are not folders in Vista/Win7. They are junction points, and are used for
legacy
programs which were written to utilize the XP file structure. They will
redirect the programs to use the equivalent Vista/Win7 folders.
If you keep the protected operating system files hidden, you won't see them.

In Vista/Win7......
Documents & Settings -> \Users
My Documents -> \Users\youraccount\Documents
My Music -> \Users\youraccount\Music
Application Data -> \Users\youraccount\AppData
etc.

Use the Users folder instead. D & S is a hard link to Users.

You should still be able to traverse the junction / link. You may have
to set the permissions on it.

Does anybody know how to give the administrator the ability to look into
the My Documents and Settings folder. I can't believe this is happening.
A simple thing like not being able to go where ever you want to in
Windows Explorer is really queer.

Considering that he didn't specify what product, and this is the VISTA forum and Windows 7 has
not been released to the public yet, it is PROBABLY safe to assume that he means Vista *

* (Unless he downloaded Windows 7 from Technet or MSDN)

Oops. Sorry, I had a brain fart. He did mention Windows 7. I need another drink.
