Can't access cookies, other files

Hello,

When I open the cookies folder, a message says "This folder is empty." The
same goes for the Recent folder, Startup folder, and others.

What gives? I am the only user of the computer, and have full administrative
access (as far as I know). This problem began after I recently downloaded
SP2 for Vista Home Premium.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Roy

I have "view hidden files" checked. I don't see a separate item for System files.

Could you tell me a straightforward way to view the contents of my cookies folder? I used to be able to do it; I can't now.

Thanks

there are 3 settings there that need to be changed.
not just the one.

here is the address to my cookies.

substitute your user name for USER.

C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies

I have to answer YES twice to get permission to see the data.

My problem is not in finding or opening the cookies folder. My problem is that when I open the cookies folder, there is nothing in there except a message that says the folder is empty, which cannot be the case since I haven't deleted cookies.

This message is getting pretty old now. I'll probably start a new one after the weekend.

Thanks

Is it possible that you have a program running, or that you run (like
CCleaner) that deletes cookies?

Are you SURE that you're looking in the right place???

No. Stick with this thread.

If you go to Start then run and type cookies you will get what appears to be Windows Explorer and when you try to acces cookies folder it says you do not have access. Vista has a slight "bug" and it is pointing you to the wrong folder and when you get to that folder you are redirected to your cookies folder. Since Vista doesn't allow the redirect because it thinks you do not have sufficient rights to access the folder you must put in the correct path so there is no redirrect.

Click start then enter %appdata%\microsoft\windows\cookies and hit enter. You can now access the cookies folder for your user.
