Can't access any web site

I just installed SP2 and Internet Explorer no longer works on any web site. I
get a "This page cannot be displayed error message" on all sites. I have
followed all instructions I can find about ways to rectify this problem. I
deleted any spy ware, I cleared my cookies and all old files. My computer
uses a DSL connection through a router. The other computer (which has not
been upgraded) functions fine with Explorer 6.0, and is able to surf the web
at will.

Any suggestions gratefully accepted!

Hi there,

First, follow the steps below to check for incorrect proxy settings:

1. Click Start, run, type "inetcpl.cpl" (with out quotation marks) and click
OK.
2. In the resulting window, click On the Connections tab and click the LAN
settings button.
3. In the resulting window, ensure that there are no check marks.
4. Click OK.

If still no joy, then try reinstalling Winsock:

1. Click Start, run, type "cmd" (with out quotation marks) and click OK.
2. In the DOS window, type the below command and hit enter.

netsh winsock reset catalog

** Restart the PC when prompted.

Hi Meena:

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried them, but, sadly, they did not work. I
do however get a different error message now. Now I get a Symantec window
saying that they are missing the "ccApp".

The more I think about this, the more I'm sure this is a Symantec problem.
I have been having a terrible time with their tech support giving me bad
advice. So I'll bet they had me change a setting somewhereand now I can't
get back to where I started. I have deleted all my Symantec software, but
oviously some bits of it must still be in my system since it's their error
message I got.

So if you have any suggestions on ccApp, please let me know.

Tom

ccApp is Norton related startup program, try disabling the Norton Firewall
or Internet security and see if it does the trick. If so, try uninstalling
and reinstalling Norton.
