Can't access All Users\Documents folder in WinXP Home as an administrator

R

Ron D.

I didn't realize the problem until I opened up Windows
Movie Maker and it tried to load the default template and
couldn't load an .mp3 file in C:\Documents and
Settings\All Users\Documents\...

I have my user account setup in Windows XP Home Edition
as an administrator with the following folders under C:\
Documents and Settings\

All Users
Default User
Owner
(my account name)

I'm logged in as (my account name) and I can access all
of the subfolders under these folders except for
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents.
When trying to access this directory I receive the
following message:

"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents is not
accessible.

Access denied."

I can access the following directories and their
subsequent subfolders

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Favorites
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Templates

Does anyone have any idea why this might be and how it
can be changed? I'm presuming this is normal?

Ron:

If it makes you feel any better, I am having the EXACT
same problem as you are. In my case I am trying to use a
digital dictation program that insists on storing its
data files in the Shared Documents folder. The program
works fine on another machine I have, but not on the one
I want to run it on. I have read that this can be cured
by checking the box next to "Use simple file sharing
(Recommended)," However, this option does NOT appear on
my machine, and so, of course, I cannot check it.

I have no suggestion to help you, but it did make me feel
a little better when I read that someone else was having
the same problem. It must be a problem in Windows XP.
