Canont communicate using SIP?

I'm using Windows Messenger v4.7 & 5.0 in our intranet
(LCS2003+Window Server2003).Messenger v4.7 couldn't
connect our LCS2003 using SIP, but v5.0 could connect.
Also, I find out "Older version of windows Messenger
cannot communicate using SIP" in online help LCS2003 SE.
So, I want to know whether the "Older version"
means "under v5.0"?

Starting with Windows Messenger 5.0, messenger became a "triple stack"
client, allowing you to use Exchange (RVP protocol), MSN (.NET), and SIP
(LCS, Sametime, Facetiem, etc).

Prior to that the only options were Exchange and MSN (4.7 client). The
"older client" was 4.7. Note that WM 5.1 is now out...so both 5.0 and 4.7
can be considered older clients... I would say that 5.0 is the old client
and 4.7 is the older client, for the sake of semantics.
