Hi guys
I have got on-of-those errors that indicate that you should(read: can only)
replace the mainboard on my Canon MP800R printer....
Anyone who can done this before?
and can recommend a 3-party for the mainboard ??

While I understand you want to do this work yourself, as do I usually, I
wanted to throw out this information as well, since it was most useful
to me (I would normal shy away from company's after-sales service):

In Japan Canon have an after-sales service at a fixed cost of around
11500 JPY (transport excluded) which is great for such issues, because
in the case of my MP810 I could get the printhead and logic board
replaced. I would suggest you see what Canon after-sales service has
available in your region.

Hi
Unfortunately.. according to Canon.. this is a service to Japan and the US
only... no such solution in Europe...
So.. any other ideas ?

Ah, that is sad news.

Well, I would look around for cheap used MP800Rs on auction sites
then. If none can be found, presumably a different model could be
obtained second-hand from.

On an unrelated note, I do not advocate buying printers/scanners new for
personal use. Mostly, the devices are not better because they are a
later model, and once one understands how to clean nozzles, and refill
inks, once gains confidence in judging if a second-hand printer is worth
a given amount of money or not. I have been testing and helping develope
linux drivers for Canon printer/scanner devices for a few years now, and
generally am happy to buy any device which does not show particularly
critical errors on the display.
