Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel - Import using Windows?

N

Nigel Molesworth

I've got a Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel. I've loaded the latest Canon
Windows XP WIA Driver (5.2.0) - there is no Vista driver listed on the
Canon site.

I don't get the "Import using Windows" dialog when I connect the
camera, and Windows Photo Gallery doesn't list the camera in the
import list (although my Canon scanner is listed).

I should also mention that I keep getting a warning that CNDNDlg has
stopped working, I think this is a Canon Digital Camera support file.

Any suggestions?

Suggestion: Wait until Canon publishes the appropriate
drivers for Vista.

If the XP drivers don't work, there is no other solution!

Or purchase card reader. They are usually faster and they show to
Windows as external harddrives. They don't need drivers.

I have the 350D, and it works just fine, without using any additional
drivers, just the built in Vista stuff. However, you do need to change the
way the camera communicates with the PC.On the Setup 2 screen, change the
Communication setting to the other option (I forget which way round they
are).

Changed from Normal to PTP (whatever that means) and Vista says hello!

Many thanks.

Nigel,

I was having the same problem with my 350D - changed the display from Normal
to PTP and now it works fine. Thanks a lot, I was starting to get annoyed.
Only another couple of items now to get working !!
