Cannot view processes running in task manager

In task manager I can click all tabs and can see cpu usage etc. but when I go
into processes the screen is all gray and down below is shows 37 processes
running. Also I go into to "run" and type msconfig and no meus pop up. the
pointer key on the mouse blicks but I cannot view anything.

That behavior from MSCONFIG in particular is a symptom of an
infestation by one of several different viruses/trojans.

Make certain your antivirus software is completely up to date, with
the virus definitions not less than a week old, and do a complete
virus scan of your hard drive. Then get a "second opinion" by doing a
free online virus scan at one of the following sites:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/

Follow this up with MVP Jim Eshelman's Spyware Quick Fix procedure as
