When you right click the drive, are Open, Explore and Search the first three
items at the top?

Is Open in BOLD?

If not Open, Explore and Search is not the order what is?

What is listed in BOLD?

In the mean time, try this.

Start | Run | Type or paste: regsvr32 /i shell32 | Click OK

Fixed it. It was a virus that part of it's nature was to infect D
drive onwards, by putting autorun.ini and pagefile.pif on that drive.
The virus cleaner deleted pagefile.pif but not the autorun.ini so i
deleted that in safe mode and all is well.
