Cannot update newsgroup

I am using Vista and several newsgoups are working fine. However there is a
very active one I need, but I have recorded only a few messages, and they
are far from current. The aname of the group is as follows:

alt.support.cancer.prostrate

Can someone tell me how to activate this newsgroup on my new computer? Why
do some work, and this one does not ? Many thanks.

Could be that this group contains a misspelling (prostRate), and the correct
group is
alt.support.cancer.prostate

There is no activation, you just have to set up your newsreader program to
access a news server, sometimes using a username & password.

It depends on the news server. Can you contact the people running the news
server?
