Cannot Successfully Connect to Use Remote Desktop

The basic problem: I am trying to help someone by using remote assistance - remote desktop through MSN Messenger and am unable to get remote assistance to connect my computer with theirs. Using "Ask for Remote Assistance" in MSN Messenger, he finds me in the contact list and successfully sends a request which I see and accept. This starts a live chat which works fine. Then my computer begins the attempt to connect to his, but fails. The error message reads: "Remote Assistance connection could not be established because the remote host name could not be resolved"

More Details:

A) Both computers are Windows XP Professional
B) Both of us have MSN as our ISP and both of us have high-speed DSL
C) We are trying to use MSN Messenger to make the remote desktop functionality work
D) Both of us have MSN Messenger up and running and can see each other
E) If I reverse the process, sending the request to him and he accepts, the same failure occurs and produces the same error message on his end
G) On both comuters, IIS has been installed
H) On Both computers, in "System Properties" on the REMOTE tab, the Remote Assistance and Remote Desktop selections have been checked "ON"
I) On my computer, there is a router between the DSL modem and my computer
J) On his computer the connection goes directly from the DSL modem to the computer - no router in between
K) Neither computer has a third-party firewall program; however, on both computers, the LAN and 1394 Net Adapter conncetions are both enabled and both firewalled using the Windows XP firewall setting under Control Panel>>>Network Connections

The instructions for making this work are very simple and it's pure Microsoft all the way - on both computers. There's no help or anything to tell you what to do if it doesn't work, which sort-of impies little can possibly go wrong..... So why won't this work

You might look at this KB article for an explanation of how a firewall/NAT/router can effect your RA
connection...

You could try opening TCP Port 3389. You also may need to modify the RCTICKET field in the
invitation file to use the correct IP address.
