cannot start the reminder service ??

John

We have a user's pst file stored on a file server. When
the user opens her Outlook we're getting this error
message;

"Cannot start the reminder service. Unable to show
reminders. An error occured that prevented the file
h:\xxxx\outlook.pst from being saved. Close and then
restart all emailed applications".

The user cannot view any of her folders. We've tried
scanning the pst file several times. We're running Outlook
2002. The file size is pretty big, 1.2 Gig.

In the meantime, I've opened a new pst file on the local
drive and she can send/receive current mail.

Any insight would be beneficial.

thanks

Storing a pst-file on a network share is not recommended and supported by
Microsoft as the file structure has never been designed for this. In general
it works well anyway. When the file gets bigger the possibility that it
stops working increases. In other words; start a new pst-file or clean up
the original one.
