Cannot run Windows XP update

I did a NON Destructive System Recovery on a friend's HP pavillion. Now when
I go to Windows Update, it installs the Automatic Updater and I set it to
automatic download and install. The problem is, automatic updates starts the
system scan for needed updates and hangs. SP 2 is not on the system and I
know there has to be a gob of updates that need to be installed. It is set
for automatic update at the default time of 3AM, however, nothing seems to
have happened last night. Still no SP2 installed. Does anyone have an answer
for this situation? This is my first time doing such on an HP computer. I've
never had a problem running an XP repair using an XP disc on other computers.

You could download SP2 from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...BE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en
and then install it from the download location (I think it's about 200Meg)
then take it from there.

I emailed he info to my friend. I will let you know if this solves the oveall
problem. Thanks for the link as I looked in vain for a link to the SP2
download. Billy
