cannot restore menu bar in office: mac 2008

how do i restore original menu bar, i tried to customize my toolbar & for
some reason the menu bar options(file, view, edit, etc.) disappeared. the
only options that are still visible on the menu bar are the apple icon, Word
and a scroll. please help!!!

If this were WinWord, I'd point you to

this is an area where MacWord is significantly different from WinWord, so
