Cannot remove trojan, please help

Hi there

AVG has detected the verifierbug.class trojan on my PC. Followed Symantec's
removal advice, which was

Turn off System Restore
Update Antivirus
Start sytem in Safe Mode
Run Antivirus and delete infected files

It runs the test, it finds three infected files and tells me that no files
have been healed!!!!!!! I cannot remove the damn files. They are located in

C:\Documents and Settings\Ali\Local Settings\Tempory Internet Files\Content
IE5\IF2VE12V

Can anyone help me here, or is it better to do a new install?

Alistair,

Close all instances of IE. Type INETCPL.CPL in Start/Run to access Internet
Options, and flush the TIF cache. Then, run Trend Micro's Sysclean package
(free), it's capable of eliminating keyloggers, trojans etc. Full

Delete the History folder and index.dat:

Download from www.moosoft.com The Cleaner and perform a scan.
