Open the Internet applet in Control Panel. On the Advanced tab uncheck
Enable third party browser enhancements.
If IE now opens, eliminate any browser hijackers.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
CWShredder is also available here:

**Post your HijackThis log to
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ or the Spyware forum at
http://forum.aumha.org/ for expert analysis, not here.**
Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page:
http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm.
If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Frank,

Do the articles below apply to reinstalling under W2K as well? I am getting
the 'Digital Signature Not Found' error and then the installation stops. I
repeated the downloads several times unsuccessfully.

I don't know what is causing that error, but AFAIK, the programs in the
article I referenced all work on Win2K.

I did find one certificate that was expired, the NO LIABILITY ACCEPTED
certificate from Verisign expired 1/7/2004. Where do I get a new one?
Thanks,

Gerhard
