Cannot receive email in Vista

I am using Windows Mail and my ISP is sbc.global.net When I setup the
account in SSL settings as they want me to, I cannot send emails. The ISP
(AT&T) 2nd Tier doesn't have an answer.
Here is the error message I receive: Your server has unexpectedly
terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems,
network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Subject 'test', Account:
'pop.att.yahoo.com', Server: 'smtp.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

I would appreciate any help.

I'm surprised that tech support had no advice for you, since you
are using the wrong settings (port number and SSL option).

Thanks for you response...I think I posted the wrong error message...here is
the correct one...I am aware of thr 465 and 995 port numbers for SSL..but
here is the error message:

"Unexpected" termination is almost always due to interference
from a non-compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus is it?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Another option is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail,
because it is less prone to suffering bad effects from overly
intrusive antivirus programs: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
