Cannot play game on XP that worked on Win98

Tom Higgins

I have a game "Hodj-n'Podj" that worked great on Win98
but the video won't play on my brand new Win XP machine.
I change the compatibility to play in 256 colors and
640x480 screen resolution. The sound works but the vidoe doesn't play.
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Go to the game's program file, the exe file in the program
folder. Right click on the file and select compatibility
mode. Set the program to see XP as W98. It might run,
might not. Check with the game publisher [their website] to
see if there are updates, patches or an FAQ on the game.

You can get Virtual PC and run W98 inside of XP and then run
the game. It can be that the new PC and video card are too
fast for the game, you might try setting a slower
acceleration on the video.

Microsoft broke a lot of old Windows 3.x games with some of the updates
to XP. I have games that worked originally with XP but later quit
working after patching.

From what I read on-line, the game won't work. , it was
DOS/Windows 3.

That didn't work so I went to Microsoft.com and downloaded Virtual PC
2004 SP1, but that won't work...said it will only work on XP Professional.
Or did you mean something different to download?
