Cannot open Windows Mail...

I agree with you. Good luck! They need feedback from as many sources as
possible so they "get it".

They are programming by committee in their ivory towers and ignoring the
reality of the user experience.

wonder why?

Some people....below quote:

It's not so much as putting the cart in front of the horse as making sure
your not using a pony to pull a lead wagon or a norfolk shire to pull a
feather weight. My point is that communication between these people is needed.
My other point is that there are people who have (rightfully) paid for good
quality antivirus programs and that means an effective loss of money to those
people. (Myself included.) For Microsoft to release a potential upgrade
without notifying users of the possible effects doesn't fill me with hope for
future upgrades.

I use multiple non-Microsoft software, and if a future upgrades may cause
those programs to not work properly then I will be mighty displeased ( to say
the least!!) and will have to spend a lot of time ( and time is money!) to
resolve the problem. I would therefore prefer to use an OS that is stable and
has the ability to be compliant with other programs.

So forget the cart and the horse. We are talking about technology that is
much more advanced and therefore requires a fair greater understanding of the
individual components. If you want to stick with horses and carts go back to
windows 98!

There are not enough horses heads to go around.
This problem..only started for me in the last two weeks. The outlook
communicator? plug-in was working very well... Even though I have been
using 360. I became very tired of uninstalling and installing
OneCare.....because of all the problems.... That is another MS owned,
subscribed...disaster.
Vista is so not-compatible with other software...hardware....etc... I would
and should have stayed with XP. It took only 7 years to get that OS
working.... If it ain't broke..don't try to fix it.
(Fortunately there are programmers who are offering software ....running
vista...that restore programs and at least the scanners, printers,
etc....WHICH VISTA THRUST UPON US... FOR INSTANCE: VueScan.....Hamirick
online offers software that makes my three old scanners work...and my old
printers...that Vista saw not to support. I had been using Outlook
2007..with the plug-in for other than POP-servers..... and my (MS) hotmail
account was being displayed in in outlook.
There may be work arounds.... we need a Microsoft Works....that works....
Not trashing Vista...only stating what has been my biggest dissapointment
since I began using MS back about 1980. I have had to learn many ways to
workaround... We do not buy products...we have to workaround. I am a
diabetic.
My software for my Ultra II readings....worked well with XP. Now ...those
programmers are having difficulty being validated by Vista...as others who
provided that great help for me and my doctor....with results..I could
download from the meter....and email to my doctor... or just print for me to
track my blood sugar.

Don't tell me not to complain about Vista compatibility.... That is a
health problem which can be fatal. Tell me Vista Cares about us. I
don't think so.

If other programmers such as Hamrick...can provide software to make the
non-compatible scanners, printers....etc...work using Vista...... Vista is
not smart enough to do that?

wonder why?

I just checked WinMail properties...and for some reason....even as
Administrator...I am unable to change "Security" to edit for those
options....
I am unable to make changes...to allow me to open WinMail. (Which by the
way is a Microsoft program....almost put upon us logging in to Live...and
other MS sites...using Hotmail....which is not a pop-server... As stated
before....it had been working until tow weeks ago...
There must be a reason...I will do as so many times in the past...spend many
hours or even days or weeks....searching for a "runaround" or fiix.
I wonder why Vista and MS cannot troubleshoot this and the many other
problems...online..... as many other vendors websites already do....and at
no charge.
Could that be why support is so difficult....follow the money.?

Ever wonder how much control software has over your computer....without you
knowledge? How much MEMORY is used to prevent piracy... The tip if the
Iceberg is nothing compared with what is hidden. The Titanic was thought to
be unsinkable.

Ever wonder why Apple or Mac programs are still compatible with what you
have...not what you must buy to make it work? Rotten to the core...of the
OS.

I have no idea what "fighting" you are talking about.
This forum is a peer-to-peer help group, so it helps to not bite the hand
that feeds you. :)

Last Thursday (July 12th), my new laptop downloaded new updates from
Microsoft, in order to finish installing updates the computer had to reboot,
ever since that time I can no longer open Windows Mail.
I run on Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 bit.
I've run all scans in windows and also Norton 360 and didn't have any
problems show up.(such as viruses or etc.)
I tried system restore to one week before that dreaded update install, and
my system tells me the system restore couldn't finish properly.
Went to command bar and typed in "C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\WinMail.exe"
OCInstallReinsallOE......totally nothing happened.(tried that several times)
I did not lose the shortcut, that is located on my desktop.
Went to Control Panel, Default Programs, and Windows Mail is not anywhere to
be found.
Windows Mail was has been working just fine for the past few months, only
probem showed up after this latest update was installed. I keep checking for
more updates from Microsoft to see if something happened that there is a
patch for, and no luck there either.
When I click on my icon to open Windows Mail, it appears as though it might
try to open, but all I get is a box containing this message:
upper lefthand corner says WinMail.exe
in the middle is a number: 0x8007000E
I have searched all over the web and cannot find that particular number to
give me any helpful hints on what I can do.
PLEASE HELP!!
Thanks much.
