Cannot open chm files

Whenever I try and open a help file I get an error dialog
with a message like the following:

Cannot open the file:
mk:mad:MSITStore:C:\WINDOWS\Help\WINDOWS.CHM

XP will not allow me to install hhupd.exe. How can I
reinstall the help system, or correct the current
installation?

Go "start" "run": regsvr32 "c:\windows\system32\hhctrl.ocx".

The problem was the same for me...
