Cannot open any program without closing others first.

I'm experiencing a really frustrating bug (Vista Home Premium) that will only
happen occasionally, but when it does, it persists until I restart my
machine. Basically what happens is it gets in this mode where it will not
allow me to open another program, no matter how many times I try to open it.
However, if I close an open program, whichever program that was trying to
open will then open.

Why is it doing this, and how can I fix it??

Thanks

the use of a better OS would solve your problem

Like XP

Vista and fustration go hand and hand, even if you solve this prob, another
one will pop up..

its the vista way...

It sounds like your computer is running out of virtual memory. How much RAM
do you have in the system? Does it happen only when running
processor/memory-intensive programs (like AutoCAD, Photoshop, DVD editing,
etc.)? Is the computer virus/malware-free? If you think so, what did you
use/do to determine this?

Did the machine ever work correctly? If yes, what changed between the time
things worked and the time they didn't?
