Hi,
I can ping the client computer from the host but cannot ping the host from
the client. The Host has SP2 installed and the client has just had XP Home
installed without any patches as I cannot connect to the Internet via the
Host.
The Host (XP Home) IP 192.168.0.1
The Client (XP Home) IP 192.168.0.20
Both have a static address. The client Default Gateway is 192.168.0.1
The host has the Firewall Disabled.

I have even tried connecting to the host from my laptop which is XP Pro and
had the same problems.

The Host has a 2nd NIC connected to a Router to the Internet. The address
of the 2nd Nic is 192.168.1.10 and the router address is 192.168.1.1
No problems with the host connecting to the Internet.

I am tearing my hair out. Is there something to do with SP2 on the Host?

What is the subnet mask? Is the router a separate box? what make and model of
router is it?

Subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
I have a Daytrek Vigor 2600 Router. I have even disable the network card
going to the Router and have the same problems. Also disabled the Microsoft
Firewall.

Fixed the problem. I had Cisco VPN client installed on the host. I stopped
the sevice and now its OK.
