Hi,
I'm the network administrator of an office with a remote office as well.
Everything is fine at work, however on one machine at home I cannot map the
network drive to my file server at work.
The machine at home is an XP Pro machine connecting to the domain via VPN. I
can set up Outlook with my Exchange Profile and get all of my mail and
everything else. I can ping all the servers at work as well as other clients
at work.
Whenever I try to map the network drive it gives me a logon screen and after
entering my logon information, it just immediately asks me for it again. Over
and over. This information is correct. I can use the same logon credentials
from a different machine at my house with no problems. This one particular
machine refuses to map the network drive.
I've tried using such ways as:
\\server1\shared
\\(private ip address)\shared
\\server1.domain.local\shared
I've tried opening windows explorer and typing the same information into the
address bar. It does give me a list of resources under "\\server1\", but if I
click on one of the resources (such as the shared drive), it prompts me for a
logon over and over again with actually logging me in!
I'm at my wits end! Does anyone know of some things I might be able to check
to see what could be wrong on the server or the remote client?
Thanks,
John
