Cannot Map Network Drive

Hi,

I'm the network administrator of an office with a remote office as well.
Everything is fine at work, however on one machine at home I cannot map the
network drive to my file server at work.

The machine at home is an XP Pro machine connecting to the domain via VPN. I
can set up Outlook with my Exchange Profile and get all of my mail and
everything else. I can ping all the servers at work as well as other clients
at work.

Whenever I try to map the network drive it gives me a logon screen and after
entering my logon information, it just immediately asks me for it again. Over
and over. This information is correct. I can use the same logon credentials
from a different machine at my house with no problems. This one particular
machine refuses to map the network drive.

I've tried using such ways as:

\\server1\shared

\\(private ip address)\shared

\\server1.domain.local\shared

I've tried opening windows explorer and typing the same information into the
address bar. It does give me a list of resources under "\\server1\", but if I
click on one of the resources (such as the shared drive), it prompts me for a
logon over and over again with actually logging me in!

I'm at my wits end! Does anyone know of some things I might be able to check
to see what could be wrong on the server or the remote client?

Thanks,

John

sounds like cached credentails issue. try this command: net use \\ip /u:username. When prompting for the password, type the password and press enter. Please post back with the result.

Well, I changed the logon methods to not allow fast user switching and to not
show the welcome screen and everything seemed to clear up fine. I'll post
back if it gives me trouble again.

Thanks for your help.
