Cannot Login after changing domain/workgroup settings

I just switched my computer from being set on a domain name to being set on a
workgroup name. I restarted to make the new settings take effect and now I
am unable to log into windows, it is saying that the password is incorrect.
It seems like the login/password I had been using only worked under the old
domain name and not the new workgroup name. Now I am locked out of the
computer and cannot even get on in order to change it back to what it was.
Is there any way to alter the domain/workgroup settings without loging into
windows or is there another way around this problem? Any help would be very
appreciated...thanks.

The Administrator shoudn't be in anything. That is local to the machine. Can't you use the Administrator login?

You have to ask your network administrator to re-register your machine
on the domain. Alternatively, you have to ask him for a local account
name / password.

The computer was once used at the office but now is just for home use so it
is no longer acsesable to the domain administrator. Any other way?

Please explain what you did so others with the same issue can get some help.

It's a fair guess that he either used a Nordahl boot disk to
reset the password, or reloaded the operating system. In
other words, he is now taking posession of the machine
he inherited.

By changing the computer from the domain to a workgroup, your son
destroyed the trust between the domain and the machine. In doing so, he
has also rendered any domain login credentials as invalid. You need to
be physically connected to the domain network, you need to have
administrative privileges to the laptop, and you need to have
administrative privileges on the domain. Then you can add the machine
back on to the domain, after having first deleted the computer's old
domain account (unless you've also renamed the computer).

Take the laptop to your network administrator (I can't help but
conclude that such exists, or the laptop would not have been a member of
a domain) for repairs.
