pls excuse the long post but this is as short as i can make it.
have laptop w xp home and desktop w xp prof and a router (Network Everywhere
model NR041-wm)
(on the laptop) I open RDC and get a dialog box with 5 tabs. In the box
that says computer, i type the ip add of my desktop. my own name appears in
the user name box. i type a pw in the password box and type ms home for
domain. when i
click "connect", i get em: "the system could not log you on. make sure your
user name and domain are correct...." (there are only about 3 passwords and
user names that i use for EVERYTHING. it's not likely i would have used
anything else when the pw was originally entered). none of these work.
Some observations: when i try to connect to the laptop (from the desktop),
it's a different situation-- i get an em box labeled "remote desktop
disconnected" with an em: "the client could not connect to the remote
computer. remote connections might not be enabled or the computer might be
to busy to accept...." there doesn't seem to be a pw issued logging on to
windows with the desk top. The issue seems to be pw related with the laptop.
Several weeks ago i was attempting to network these 2 computers without a
router (my ignorance). I appearantly used a pw, which i dont remember, on
the laptop. I am the system
admn of both computers-- surely, there's a way to undo this mess.
ANY help would be appreciated. tks for suffering thru such a long post.
