Cannot install NIC card

The system picks up my new network card but when I try to run its driver, it
cannot install the driver through the Found New Hardware wizard, even though
I am using the right driver on the right motherboard (AOpen-Micro ATX). I'm
using WinXP Pro. Tried a couple of working NIC cards but same problem appears.

Where could the problem be?
Pls someone help me.

have you tried doing an upgrade driver install thru device manager?
go to device manage, right click on the network card, under properties chose
upgrade driver and
search the cdrom that came with the card for the proper driver.

Have a look at the driver file...it may be a self-extracting executable.
if so, you will have to run it to extract the driver files.

If that was not the case, please post back and state the *exact* error
message you got

It is possible that the New Hardware Wizard may not be able to install
the drivers. Check with the NIC manufacturer and get their method of
installing the drivers (could be a method with SETUP.EXE.)

Yes, tried that already but still cannot complete the driver installation.

My motherboard is AOpen. If I install a ASRock motherboard drivers instead of
AOpen motherboard drivers, would that be the cause of the problem?

Connie,

You mention "I am using the right driver on the right motherboard (AOpen-Micro
ATX)." That leads me to believe you are using the integrated NIC chip on the
motherboard, not an add-on PCI NIC adapter/card. If that is correct, please provide
the exact:

Make/Model PC.
Make/Model motherboard.

If you are using an add-on PCI NIC adapter/card and not the integrated NIC, please
provide the exact Make/Model of the adapter/card you are using.

Also, let us know if the NIC is operative and Windows is recognizing the NIC as new
hardware installed even though it is installed and working. If it is not installed
and properly working, provide the info stated above.

AOpen motherboard drivers, would that be the cause of the problem?

If your mobo is AOpen, then by all means you need to install the AOpen
drivers.
if you don't have them, I'm sure you could download them from the AOpen
website
