Cannot increase size of page file

using 2000 Pro; everytime i log on, error message appears
explaining that i do not have a paging file, including
instructions on how to fix problem: go to my computer;
properties; advanced; performance options; change paging
file size; etc, ...

the amount allocated is 20 MB... i try to set a new
initial and max size... but the amount allocated never
changes from 20 MB. i have tried everything i can think
of... please help me. please.

Follow the instructions in this article as it is most likely what is going
on.
