Cannot get Outlook Express to connect

I have a friend who has the following problem
Uses\XP with Wanadoo broddband.
Connects to the Internet ok with Internet Explorer.
I visited him to check his settings on Outlook Express and all appeared OK.
A fault report appears each time which says that the password is incorrect
Knowing windows messages I know they do not necessarily reflect the actual
fault.
I have deleted the password each time and put in the correct one but I am
wondering if the password is protected from change and perhaps requires
another method of changing this
Any ideas please ?

Your friend should get in touch with the ISP provider and check that he is
using the correct user name and password.
The ISP can verify the actual user account name and password. The ISP can
also check his mail server settings.

Hi Blair,

"Password is incorrect" is not usually wrong, I would have him check for
correct case, and also whether or not the account requires authentication.

It is also possible that there is trouble at the mail server, checking with
the provider may help clear it up.
