Cannot generate email to any of my Contacts

I'm on an Exchange email server with my company, so the default address book
is the Exchange one, and it just works. That's fine most of the time.

But - I have added a number of contacts to my Contacts folder - I can see
them when I use the Contacts tab. But when I create a new mail message,
then
click the 'To' button, and use the drop-down in the 'Show Names from the'
box - Contacts is not offered as one of the available sources.

Further - if I try to generate a 'new message to contact' from within the
Contacts folder, I get an error message.

Can anyone suggest a solution please? I'm working with Outlook 2003
Thanks,
Jeff

Right-click on your contacts folder, go to properties, Outlook Address Book
tab, and tick the box.
If this doesn't work - you will need to remove the Outlook Address Book
service from your profile, restart Outlook, re-add the service, and then try
again. Tools | email accounts | view/modify address books | other (this is
from memory, sorry).
