Hi,
I have recently completed a new install of Win XP Pro and am having problems
performing ftp.
The computer is part of a network, which has a domain controller and a router.
The other machines on the network run win 2000 pro and there are no problems
with these.
When I tried to ftp using macromedia dreamweaver the connection timed out.
Thinking it was a problem with the software I tried using an ftp client, cute
ftp and ftp surfer. Still no luck. I tried using Internet explorer,
changing from passive toa ctive. Still no luck.
I then tried it using the command line:
ftp> open ftphostname
All i get is
I have searched for answers to this but cannot get any concrete suggestions.
I am aware lots of people have had problems with ftp after installing sp2 but
I have not installed this. In fact, I have not installed any of the win xp
updates.
I am now reverting back to windows 2000 as at least I know it works.
I would appreciate any help or advice on what to do.
Regards
Euan
