"cannot find"

N

Nando

The icons on my desktop (except IE) or in my
start/programs do not work. When I click on them it
says "windows cannot find etc". When I look these up in
my computer it looks as if the .exe files are gone. Do I
have a virus or does anyboy have any idea what's going
on? Thanks

They are probably shortcuts for programs you may have had at one time, but
not longer have. You uninstalled it, ect... Sometimes when you uninstall
programs, they leave behind folders which should be deleted manually.

Nando,

The .LNK (or the .EXE) file association seems to be corrupt, may be buy a virus.
Apply the appropriate fix from Doug's site: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm
