Cannot find the BACKUP report

Hi folks,

Our automatically scheduled backups do not show up in the backup report.
The manually initiated ones do. This makes it hard for us to see if any
files were skipped during the night's backup.

The scheduled backups were created using the Backup wizard. Our server is
SBS 2000.

Thanks in advance.

The backup logs are stored at ="C:\Documents and Settings\%user%\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\

where %user% is the user context that you scheduled the backup under.

Backup isn't creating any log files.

Hmm - I've emailed you directly with a batch file I use for NTBackup jobs;
you may find it useful and it may resolve this problem as well.

Sounds like your job isn't running, then.

Take a look at the command line through Settings | Control Panel |
Scheduled Tasks | Properties, and in particular the /l command line
switch. Valid values for this switch are /l:f for a full (or detailed)
log, /l:s for a summary log and /l:n for no log. I'm not sure what the
default is if this switch is missing but you can always explicitly add
one just be sure.

Did you look in the location that Jerold suggested? Or did you just
open the Backup application? You cannot see the backup logs created by
a batch backup job under the GUI. Just wondering.

Cheers,

I did look. There were no new backup logs.

We used to be able to see the night's backup logs. We erased those
scheduled jobs and made some new ones about a month ago. Since then,
they've not been creating any logs.

I found the switch...it's set to summary.

My apologies,

After recreating...again...our backup jobs yesterday, I now find that last
night's logs have been stored in the specified %user% directory.

I swear, for many weeks they were not being created. I'll keep you posted
as to whether they're created again tonight.
