Cannot empty the clipboard

OK, I thought this was a problem with InfoPath 2003 because that was about
the same time I started to see the error. I am using Office 2003 Pro.

After so many copies the error "Cannot empty the clipboard" comes up. I
have tried to repair office and remove apps that I thought was causing the
problem. I have yet to find it. I wish the error would be more descriptive
in why it can't do it.

I searched MS knowlege base and couldn't find anything other than a
reference to office 97 ... Anyone have any ideas?

OK, I must be crazy.

I was having this problem and specificlly reformated my computer because of
it. I reloaded all the software and patches (least I have a clean machine
now) and had the exact same problem.

This morning I unloaded Office and the Business Contact Manager and Front
Page and then slowly reloaded and patched the system, and the problem doesn't
seem to exist now. I am not 100% sure what the original problem was but I
haven't been able to get it to give me the error again.

If it does I guess I will be back.

Well I didn't seem to have problems but yesterday and today it came back with
a vengence. The clipboard actually says "Item not collected" no explanation.

Anyway, have the error. Anyone have any ideas?

When you reloaded the software, Windows, did you select full or custom and
did you include Clipboard Viewer?

Sorry for the delay...

I did a "complete" install, which I will assume is everything.

I know that a window pops up if you hit cntl-c twice and it is pushing
information into that window... which is the clipboard, it seems random when
the error occurs. Sometimes I get it within 2-3 copies and sometime it comes
up 20+ copies... sometimes I don't get it at all ...but then again I don't
copy a lot on some sheets.

The machine has about 13gb left on the hard drive... so catching shouldn't
be a problem. The machine also has 1.5gb of RAM so I would believe that it
wouldn't be an issue. It just seems that the clipboard is the issue.

I had 2 "free" e-mail support from Microsoft and I went ahead and used
one... I wrote it up on Nov 1, 2005 ... here it is Nov 8th and no reply at
all ... and they said give them 1 business day to respond... would love to
have a "we are looking into it" at least... the silence is deafening… I did
give them all the info they were asking for so I don’t know.

I am browsing the site and in the "search for" I typed in clipboard.

I see that there was another post by "Louisem" with the same title ... dated
7/10/2005. And I am doing the same as he is ... connecting though XP Remote
Desktop. Maybe it is something to do with that. I will work with it locally
and see if I can't get the error to come up.

What I discovered is it boils down to a program called "rdpclip.exe" kill the
process and everything works again.

rdpclip.exe description (provided by liutilities.com):
rdpclip.exe is the executable for File Copy. It is provides function for
Terminal Services server that allows you to copy and paste between server and
client. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your
computer and should not be terminated.

I have reported this in the Terminal Services workgroup as well as being my
problem child. I am connecting into the machine though the remote desktop
functions of XP Pro, which Terminal Services is somewhat built in from what I
understand about it.

It took support 8 days to contact me... web site says they will be in
contact in 1 business day. I replyed and they took another 8 days to contact
me again... in the end I figured out what the problem was but have no
resolution to it... and on top of it all I burned one of my support requests
that I had resolve myself and will never get a resolution on. Really
disappointed in the support of the product from MS at this point.
