cannot download anything using IE

I have the latest version of IE. I have Windows Me.

I cannot download anything using IE (I can download using Netscape)

I get the error message "Internet Explorer cannot
download .... from ........"

It says that "IE was not able to open this internet site.
The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be
found. Please try again later."

Other people using IE with different PCs are able to download the same
Word Doc and I cannot.

Can anyone pls. help me.

If it is only .exe files, then read on and see if this is relevant: You may have an invalid plugin.
Netscape-Style Plug-ins Do Not Work After Upgrading Internet Explorer
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=303401

Remove the plugin with Regedit.exe
Start-Run-Regedit.exe
Navigate down to this key and remove it, after exporting it as a
normal safety precaution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.exe

If that key exists, then you will see what plugin has been installed.
(QuickTime by the looks of it and if so, I believe they have a fix)
The key does not normally exist.

I noticed you're trying to download .Doc files. What happens if you right-click and choose Save As?

It will not allow me to save it.
Per my earlier posting...
It says IE cannot download....


It is so frustrating and embarassing to tell people that i cannot
open their MS Word documents.

can anyone pls. help me.
