Cannot Delete Microsoft Explorer "History"

Even though I use the clear history (and temporary files
and cookies) feature via Internet Options, the history
feature permits presentation of the history by date, most
visited websites, etc.

This did not previously occur but the clear history
function simply does not work.

Any suggestions as to how I can restore this feature?

You may have parasites interfering with your IE settings and want to run
something like AdAware to try and repair. The link below tells how to deal
with parasites and where to find AdAware.

Otherwise consider trying to reinstall or repair Internet Explorer. If you
find it listed in control panel add/remove programs and select it an option
may appear to repair. --- Steve

Thanks. I'll follow the steps and consider reloading IE.

I had similar issues with ie history, it turned out it was a setting on
McAfee virus scanning options and I had to turn a setting off.....The
symptons I saw was a loss of histor as well as other history items refusing
to clear when I instigated an clear history in ie....

anyway, this came from McAfee

Open VirusScan console
Select "Pick a task..."
Select "Change my VirusScan settings"
Select "Configure VShield background scanning"
Select "Customise your VShield settings"

Select the "Internet Filter" icon from the icons down the left hand side On
the "Detection" tab, in the 'Applet filters' section, remove the tick next
to "ActiveX Controls".

this may or may not be relevent for your circumstances but thought it worth
mentioning.
