Cannot create new forms or reports

I am using a database in which I previoulsy created forms and reports. I am
able to create tables and queries. However, when I select the forms or tables
object, the "New" button is greyed out. Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Is the database suffix .mde or .mdb? If .mde, you can't even modify existing
forms and reports.

If a multi-user application, that can prevent you from creating/changing
forms and reports. Try opening up Access by itself. Then find the specific
database file in the Open dialog box and click on it once. Next click on the
dropdown next to the Open button and select Open Exclusive. See if you can
create and design forms and reports then.

Thanks for the response. The database suffix is .mdb. I opened it as Exlusive
as you suggested. Same problem. I'm a long time user and have never seen this
before.

FWIW, the suffix might not matter, since it could still be a .mde that was
simply renamed to mdb. The file would still have all the mde limitations.

Can you get into the VB editor (Alt-11) and view code? Not being able to do
that would be another hallmark of an mde (which contains no viewable code).

VB editor opens, but no code is viewable.

I created a new database and imported the tables, queries, forms and
reports. It works fine now. This is a small, independent database. Probably
the simplist fix at this point.

Thanks for your help.
