Cannot create contact groups

Hi, I fail to make contact groups in Windows Mail in Vista. I cannot find a
button anywhere to make these groups. In 'help' I am referred to to the
Contacts page, but there I cannot find that button.

Your Contacts folder has apparently switched from it's proper default
template.
Right-click on a blank area of the right pane, and select "Customize this
folder"
in the pull-down box, select "Contacts"
ok

Dave, I have had same problem exactly and your tip to Maartens was spot on -
thanks very much for taking the trouble to answer him (and me before I even
asked !!!). Cheers & Merry Xmas, Billy Bammers.

I don't see any "contacts" pull down button after the steps you asked. I
just get "contacts properties" with 5 folders inside as General, Sharing,
Security, Location and Customize. I tried every possible button in there
including "Advanced", none of them take me to a spot where I can create a
contact group. what can I do?

You are looking in the wrong place.
Open Windows Mail, and click on Tools - Windows Contacts

When you have the Contacts folder open, you should have a button on the
toolbar for "New Contact", "New Contact Group", Import" and "Export". If
you don't see these buttons, the folder template got changed, as it
sometimes does...

Right-click on a blank area of the right pane, and select "Customize this
folder".
In the pull-down box, select "Contacts"
OK
