Cannot copy files

I am getting messages, "Eror copying file or floder.
Access denied. Make sure disk is not full or write
protected" Of course I did check, but cannot copy all
files in order to do a back up. Most file are o.k. but an
entire large folder inevitably indicates above message,
preventing all files being backed up.

Wes: Thanks. Article is informative but does not solve
issue. Seems my permissions/authoirzations are fine. These
folders have been copied, backed up numerous times in
past. It is only a few files in each folder that are
creating problem, none seem to necessrily have same
characteristics. Problem only occurred recently. Tried to
resotre system but now restorations to earlier date are
not permitted either.

Problem persists.

If an application has the file(s) open and locked, then you won't be able to
copy them. You can try killing any programs that may be accessing the
file(s), or try booting into Safe Mode first since less programs are run on
startup.

Thanks for input. Tried closing all apps., then copy - no
luck. Then tried to copy while in safe mode. Still no
problem. Curious that I also cannot perform a system
restore from earlier date. Wonder if they are connected
issues.
