Cannot Copy All Files From Hard Disk

Running Win SP SE with latest fixes and my system is now corrupted and
unusable. MS says to reformat and reinstall. I have two hard drives on my
system, and would love to do a complete copy of my boot disk to the
secondary disk before reformatting and reinstalling. I can boot up Windows
XP on my corrupted system (it is just very very slow). but when I try to
copy all the files from C: to my secondary disk, using Windows Explorer, I
get error messages (access denied, can't find file on primary volume, etc).
I know I won't get all the files, but at least I will get all the data
files, but I would like to copy every file that the system can copy, instead
of stopping if it finds a file it can't copy. Anyone know how I can get the
system to ignore uncopyable files and keep on going? Any and all help
greatly appreciated.

Open a cmd prompt and use Xcopy. There are switches to copy everything.
(xcopy /?)

You are probably wasting your time by copying anything but data, many of the
sys files will be of no use to you

Thank you for the suggestion. I will give it a try. As for the other
suggestion that I'm wasting my time, I really don't care about the system
files, but I know that I'll want to use many of the data files, and I have
so many applications and so my space on my extra hard drive, that it will
take me more time to pick and choose the data files than having all the
files! As for ratings, I don't have a NET passport account. Is it worth it
to get one? Thanks.

Next time store all your data in one place, makes for easier backup

And if you are using a default winxp sys all your data is conatined in My
Documents
Favorites & email are conatined elsewere
