cannot connet to cox email server to receive mail. no problems sen

I stopped receiving emails because the Cox cable server rejects the sign-in.
The Cox people said that it was a Microsoft problem and that MS had a fix. I
downloaded a "fix" from Microsoft, but the problem remains. It was working
fine. I have not changed the pc at all. What's up?
