"Cannot communicate with printer"

Help! I've been trying to print for several days now and am beyond
frustrated! I'm running Vista 32bit. I have installed Dell 720 Photo
printer which has updated vista driver. (My AIO won't be available until
April says Dell.) The drivers install fine and the printer is marked "ready,
online" etc. Can't even print a test page. Says "cannot communicate with
printer." I have uninstalled, reinstalled, unplugged, replugged, you name
it. Spooler service is turned on as well.

I have done the same thing and there is no option or assistance for it.. I no longer have the technical support option with Dell so you know they are going to charge by the second. There has been no one that I can go to who can correct the issue.. I am praying that I don't have to buy another printer just so it can communicate with my computer which has Vista on it.. this really hurts.. if someone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

I loaded Vista 32 on a new machine. I hooked the my Dell 924 through the USB
and I printed right off the bat. I assume Microsoft had a quick and dirty
driver. A month later when I was trying to scan I realized I did not have
the functionality. I then downloaded the Dell Vista 32 driver. Now I can't
communicate to the printer. Still trying to figure it out.
I have not tried to reload/repair Vista.
