Cannot change slides per page

I am unable to change the slides per page value in the Print Handouts
box. A value of 6 is shown but it is grayed out and cannot be changed.
I can temporarily make it work by going to Tools Options Print and
changing Print What to Handouts (2 slides per page). But once I have
printed something and then return to the regular Print menu I find the
number is grayed out (6) again.
I would appreciate any suggestions. Is there something I can tweak in
the registry that would let me select the number of slides per page?

Beside the Handouts section, there is a "Print What" option. Have you set it
to Handouts?

To make it clearer, the regular print menu also has a "Print What" option.

Shawn,

Thanks of replying. I understand what you mean.

In the regular print menu it does not matter which "Print What" option
I choose the "Slides per Page" box is always 6 and is grayed out and
cannot be changed.
I can only change it (temporarily) if I go and change Tools Options
Print Print What from its default to Handouts (2 slides per page).
Once I have printed something with the new setting (e.g. 1 slide per
page) the next time I look at the regular Print menu I see a grayed
out 6 in the Slides per Page box.
