Cannot Add/Edit Content in Contact Card...Why?

S

Scott

Sorry, I posted this message, got one reply that didn't help and it's now
buried never to be seen again and I still need an answer. So, reposting
original question, first and only response I got to that question and my
response to that question so hopefully someone can pick up where left off?

Thanks!

yes, the spaces were included in that count...5,300 charecters with spaces,
5,000 without...again though, this contact card on my machine with the same
software and the same information in it lets me edit it, just doesn't work on
hers.

There is a hard limit to the amount of information that can be entered

the Notes area of contacts.

Did you include spaces in your count of characters?

How to ask a question: http://support.microsoft.com/KB/555375

After furious head scratching, Scott asked:

| My wife has a contact card she uses to store information in that's
| relevant to our business in the notes/text section (websites,
| passwords to those sites, etc etc)...There's quite a bit of
| information in it, I word counted it at 459 words, 5,300 charecters
| (with spaces).
|
| When she goes to edit it now it will not let her, it just acts as
| though she's not entering anything on her keyboard. All other
| programs, and Outlook, otherwise work fine. She frequently sends me
| updated version of this card to store in my Outlook as well and on my
| computer (virtually the same, both thinkpads, same software etc) I
| can edit this card without a problem...
|
| Any ideas?
|
| (BTW, I know this isn't a secure/good method to store sensitive
| information in and if it were vital information (like access to our
| finances etc) she wouldn't be doing it. She's more doing this as a
| convienence and if someone got the information sure it would be a
| pain in the butt, but it wouldn't be devastating or anything - so
| please leave out the "that isn't a good method, perhaps you should
| try storing that information this way" comments as unfortunately I
| can't (and have tried) to get her to do things a little
| different...she won't)

Are you using PST or an exchange mailbox? An item stored in a Unicode pst
can hold unlimited information while items in an ANSI pst may have a limit.
