Cannot access shared folder

I have a wireless network (802.11g) consisting of a desktop (XP Home), a laptop (XP Pro) and a wireless router (Belkin) connected to the internet via a DSL modem.

Both computers can access the internet, both computers can access the printer (which is connected to the desktop), I can ping all of the devices successfully (using IP addresses and computer names) and I can access the SharedDocs folder on the laptop from either computer. The problem is that if I try to access the SharedDocs folder on the desktop (from EITHER computer) I get a "\\XXX\SharedDocs is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Not enough server storage is available to process this command" error.

Does anyone know what this means or what could be causing it? As I said, everything else on the network is working exactly as I would expect, with the exception of being able to access the SharedDocs folder on the desktop.

TIA for any advice or help,
Tony

Hi Tony, I faced the same problem today, but was solved.
Etsablish a home network on both computers. Then install
the proper protocol. Check out this web site for step by
step. Just copy the link into your web browser.

vl2=&p_cat_lvl1=&p_cat_lvl2=&p_search_text=print+and+file+
sharing&p_new_search=1&p_search_type=search_nl

I am facing another problem now. I see both computers
and shared folders on the network, but when I attempt to
map the shared folders I get and the following error:

"not enough server storage is available to process this
command"

Anyone, help please.

This error indicates that you are falling foul of the IRPStackSize bug.

The problem is on the machine you are attempting to connect to,
not the machine where you see the error message.

On the computer you are attempting to connect to,
Check the event viewer for an event ID 2011.

Usual fix :
You need to fix a parameter called IRPStackSize

On the computer you are attempting to connect to,
Set the IRPStackSize back to the default (15 ).
Perform the following steps:

1. Start the registry editor (e.g., regedit.exe).
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\
Services\lanmanserver\parameters.
3. Double-click IRPStackSize
(or if this registry setting doesn't exist, create it of
type DWORD and ensure the case is correct).
4. Change the base to decimal, set the value to 15, and click OK.
5. Reboot the computer.

Norton AV is usual suspect for breaking it.

There's a KB article about this, too.
