Cannot access other computer on network

I recently got a new computer, and i have tried to set up home networking so
i can print from the computer that is not attached to the printer

well, now i cannot see system 1 from system 2, but the error message only
displays in system 2.

the printer is attached to system 2. i want to add this printer to system
1, but they are not connecting. i think it's just system 2 that has the
problem, its the new one. the error message is:

mshome is not accessible. you might not have permission to use this network
resource. contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions. the list of servers for this workgroup is currently not
available.

its a home network, the administrator is me. and someone posted a reply to
someone with a similar problem on 2/17, but the person who replied did not
specify where exactly one is to go to check 'sharing permission and ntfs
rights on the share on system 1' by dragos camara. please help!!

Well, if you WERE having a problem with accessing a server (in your example,
system 1), you would need to check system 1.

In your case, you can't see the server list. That is NOT an NTFS permissions
problem.

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several
other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this
article with an open mind.

The most likely cause of this problem is the NetBT setting. The "Default"
setting won't cut it, you need it Enabled.

For more direct help, provide "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config
server", and "net config workstation", from each computer, so we can diagnose
the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions
precisely (download browstat!):

To set, view, change, or remove file and folder permissions, follow these
steps:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308418#appliesto

The article assumes that you are using Windows XP on a domain. By default,
simplified sharing is enabled in Windows XP if you are not connected to a
domain. Therefore, the Security tab and the advanced options for permissions
are not available.

If you are not joined to a domain, or you are running Windows XP Home
Edition, and you want to view the Security tab, read the "Set, view, change,
or remove file and folder permissions" section in this article as well.

APPLIES TO
• Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
• Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition
