Access Cannot access desktop

Hi Guys, I have a windows XP problem here.
This morning, my sister tried to install an anit virus program. Afrer a while, the computer hang up.
When she re start the computer, after the black screen, we will go to the blue windows XP window where there is an icon for users to log in. There is only one which is "Thomas" my name.
Normally, when we clicked the "Thomas", we will enter the destop, but this time round, it will show that its logging off and then went back to the same screen again.
It will remain at the same screen no mater how many times you clicked the user name.
Any solutions, please advise. Thanks.

What Anti Virus did your sister install..?

Start your computer in "Safe Mode" and uninstall this antivirus.
Restart in "Normal Mode" and see if the problem persists.
I have heard of a few "Free" antivirus programs doing similar things. Only for the user to find out they had actually sat and downloaded a nasty virus..

same problem

Hi, I have started the PC in safe mode but the problem still exist.
I have tried to reinstall win XP but i just cannot get the PC to go to the restall part even when i do a restart.
My sister install a Free antivirus AVG.
Help appreciated. Thanks.
