Running Outlook 2007.
Upgraded Operating system from XP to Vista. Could not upgrade and retain
old settings so I did a Clean Install.
Now. I can not open any of my PST files in outlook.

Error: File access is denied. You do not have permission required to
access the file D:\folder\filename.pst.

How do I fix this.

RXFields,

2 quick questions for you:
1. did you set a password for it when you created it.
2. I noticed that you said that it was on the D drive. Is the file on
another Drive other than the OS drive.

I have found that the pst files prefer to be on the OS drive to be restored.

If neither of those issues work you can use a pst unlocker tool to get into
the file. I would go to downloads.net to get the tool. Do your reasearch
before you buy.

Answer:
1. No password on the PST file.
2. D drive: My laptop has two drives. One for the OS and the other for
DATA.

It appears that when I loaded the new OS VISTA, the system did not migrate
Ownership and Permmissions for some of my folders. I changed ownership of
the folder and subs to My User thinking I would have access since I was an
Administrator. However, I found that needed to also add my User in the
security settings allowing Full Control permissions. Thanks for your post.
